Dear Atiyya,

I'm so glad you found my message useful! You keep up all that toil and work for the kids! It pays HUGE dividends later! Masha Allah!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this. Raising kids doesn't bring the kind of validation we may get from doing tasks and achieving goals at work, so it often seems like a black hole of tasks that we never get appreciated for doing.
Yes, there is a lot of pressure out there to find our passion - and none of us who became moms ever signed up to find our passion in poo and pee and barf, in cleaning toilets and in washing sink loads of dishes. Thank you, thank you for this reminder that character building and raising kids with principles are not optional tasks and something that we can escape from or delegate elsewhere.

Hugs,
Atiyya

Hi Marjorie,

The chicken was good. It was just shake & bake though! LOL. So much for culinary skills. A chef, I aint.

Life's too short.

I wrote two pages this morning from this other character's point of view but now I've realized I've turned her into a caricature and have to go back and make her more sympathetic.

She's Jameela's antithesis though and rival. So we'll see. I'm having fun with it, and I just hope people aren't disappointed.

Glad the pressure's off for a while at least - and I certainly look forward to Jameela's next adventures. She's certainly feisty enough by the end of Wanting Mor to get into some funny scrapes!

Hope the chicken was good :-)

Hi Rukhsana,

The single story idea isn't mine but I love it. It comes from a wonderful lecture by Chimamanda Adichie on the TED lecture web site: http://www.ted.com/talks/chimamanda_adichie_the_danger_of_a_single_story.html
