Dear Fernanda,

That is so funny!

Men haven't looked at me for a long time, and I like it that way! As long as my husband keeps looking, I'll be glad. ;))

You're so right Rukhsana!

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.
Avoid confrontation is one thing, pretending that one was stupid enough not to notice an insult in something else.

I adore reading your texts.

Dear Rukhsana!

Try to avoid supper. It's a matter of habit, you'll see the differences immediately.
I'm not joking, but this one will make you laugh.
I look... at far :) like a young girl. I dress like one :))) except for the mini skirt cause I'm no longer a Spring chicken :)
The other day I say a group of men looking at me on the street. I was still far from them, but I could tell they were really staring at me ...
As I passed in front of them, I was able to hear " oh! that's an old lady !!! "
I laughed like crazy :)))

I have breakfast and a normal lunch, and a poor dinner, that's all.

I feel like I'm intruding on this conversation. But, will offer a snippet. I've always taught my children that integrity is the only thing you have. No one can take it away from you unless you choose to give it away through your actions. You have choices about what you think, speak and act. Another way of saying what you commeted "What defines me are my actions and my character."

Your experiences have made you the wonderful, funny, compassionate and strong person you are. You think deeply and aren't afraid to express your thoughts. That's why I love to read your blog posts because there is substance. So many posts I read in the kidlit world all say the same thing. Coming here, I can have a real conversation.

Warmly,
Pat

Dear Rukhsana!

Do you know what? We have a lot in common!!!
I hate bossy people; being told what to say and do is definitely not form me.
Ever since I remember myself, and although I always have been the shortest and the slimiest :), nobody told me to shut up ... even when I was fully aware how inconvenient I could be.
Even nowadays I'm a bit like that.
Actually, I believe it's a kind of shelter I use, to save myself from being squeezed:)))

I know what you mean when you say "What defines me are my actions and my character."
That's so true! Who cares what the majority thinks? Generally they don't even think at all. They act the way all the rest, like sheep, simply because they want to keep on the "right side" to avoid confrontation, and above all to hide themselves and pretend they're so nice and polite and all that... you know!
Again, like you, I speak my mind freely, no matter what, even if I grieve afterwards.
All that made me a stronger and charismatic person. Of that I'm absolutely certain and so are you.

Beijo

Assalaamu alaikum Attiyya,

Oh I love that! 'the best frog in the pond'!!!

But I don't know. Calling them frogs gives them a bit too much dignity in my eyes!

I do prefer my 'king of the dung heap syndrome'. I picture this huge pile of manure that someone is laying a claim to!

With regards to the bully project, yes! I'm planning on doing that. I think I'll either make it a series of youtube videos or write a small book for teenagers. I'm calling my project; "Getting the Bully off Your Back".

I may have a few weeks to do that, but I'm trying to wrap up a few projects. I'm currently revising the hajj novel and then I'll do that Afghan novel, the funny one insha Allah.

Hugs,

Rukhsana

Here in South Africa we have a really nice Afrikaans term for such people: "Die beste padda in die vlei" - the best frog in the swamp. Has a wonderful ring to it in Afrikaans.
Yes, you have to learn who the "best frogs" are in any situation and know when you are sitting in a swamp.
Love the "king of the dung heep" term as well.

Some time last year you mentioned wanting to start a project about bullying ... is that still on your mind?
