I came across your chant because after some 40-odd years, the song popped into my head all of a sudden. So I decided to look it up before I forgot about it. We use to chant/sing this ditty in day camp and sleep-away camp when I was a young lad growing up in Manhattan. We would sing it on the bus on or way to Staten Island via the ferry that back then use to allow cars and buses. Thanks for the comfort in knowing that somebody else also remembers.
